Winter 2021-2022

Q: What age did you start skating and how old are you now? Why did you decide to start skating? What made you interested in skating?

A: My first experience putting on a pair of ice skates would have been the Rockefeller Center in New York City with my family over holidays. A year later, a friend invited me to go to the public skate session at the Ice Den Chandler. I enjoyed it so much, that my family thought to surprise me next Christmas with a gift for the Learn To Skate program which I started in March of 2019, just a few weeks before turning 10. I turned 12 earlier this year.

Q: What do you like most about skating?

A: I really enjoy the challenge of it, but also being able to express myself through the music and performing for the audience.

Q: What is/are your favorite element(s) in skating?

A:  I love jumps and spins.

Q: What is your most proud moment/achievement for far?

A: I can't think of just one singular moment. I am proud of my progress as a whole. Each milestone has helped me to build on and move to the next.

Q: How does skating help you in your daily life?

A: I think skating can teach us lots of important lessons, such as patience along with perseverance, which are needed to accomplish goals.

Q: Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years?

A: I really have no idea. Everything is happening so fast, and 5 years is a long time away. Like most skaters, I hope to be successfully competing at the highest levels. Hopefully, wherever I find myself, I am happy doing what I love.
