Q: What age did you start skating and how old are you now?
A: I started the Learn to Skate program at 9 years old, but I started skating seriously and competitively at 12 years old. I am currently 20 years old.
Q: Why did you decide to start skating/what made you interested in skating?
A: My mom started taking lessons before me and I thought it looked like fun, so I started taking lessons myself as well.
Q: What do you like most about skating?
A: I love all of the relationships that I have built. There's a really great community within skating and everyone supports each other.
Q: What is/are you favorite element(s) in skating?
A: My favorite jumps are double salchow and double loops. My favorite spin is broken leg. Some of my other favorite tricks include split jumps and spread eagles.
Q: How does skating help you in your daily life?
A: In my daily life, skating has helped me get my exercise so that I can live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Q: How has figure skating contributed to your overall physical and mental health?
A: I feel like skating has greatly helped my mental health; the rink is truly my happy place and I love knowing that if I am having a rough day or week mentally, my skating friends and coaches will be there for me no matter what.
